The article explains how to create a single user account in SSP for access to the ORTEC Hosting Portal. Users must enter required attributes under different tabs like User Profile and Account Details, then click Create User. The same username must be created in Access Control. It advises not to manually change the auto-filled Logon Name fields due to character limits. After entering details, clicking Create adds the user to the Ortec-Hosting Active Directory Domain.

 

A user account in SSP is essential for any user to have access to the ORTEC Hosting Portal and to have the desired application icons available.

You must enter the values for various user attributes based on Ortec requirements and finally click the Create User button. User attributes are grouped under different categories and present as "Tabs" like User Profile, Account Details, Contact Attributes. Choose the required "tab" and enter the appropriate values for the user.

Important: to access the ORTEC application, the user must be created in Access Control as well, with the same username.

  1. Click AD Management tab
  2. Click 'Create Single User' link under 'Create Users'. This opens the Create Single User screen.

  • If you wish to populate the attributes with the values from an existing user account, click the Copy User Attributes button. 
  • You can also key in the values for all the necessary attributes using the following steps.
  1. Specify the values for User Profile attributes.

  2. It is advised to not manually change the 'Logon Name’ and ‘Logon name (pre-Windows 2000)’ because these two fields are autocompleted and they will be identical.
    Worth mentioning is that the Logon name (pre-Windows 2000)’ is limited by Microsoft to 20 characters and if the whole logon name exceeds 20 characters. In this case is is normal to see ‘Logon name (pre-Windows 2000)’ truncated.
  3. After specifying the required details, click on Create to add this new user account to Ortec-Hosting Active Directory Domain.
